The Archives and History Research Center is located at 3425 Hwy. 126, Suite 100, adjacent to the old historic Sullivan County Courthouse. Office hours are Monday thru Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM (Closed on Saturdays.) Please see our Visitors Guidelines.

We welcome your visit to the Archives and History Center in the Sullivan County Department of Archives and Tourism. If you're planning a visit, please give us a call at 423.323.4660 for current hours of operation and to ensure that the office is properly staffed upon your arrival.

The primary mission focus of the Archives is to restore and preserve county governmental records and historical documents. Additionally, our missions include assisting other county departments and officals in records preservation, and to serve as a research center for visitors to the county in search of their family heritage in Sullivan County and surrounding areas of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

Our History and Genealogy Collection contains research on numerous states across the nation, including but not limited to, Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri, Indiana, Arkansas, Maryland and many more.
